              Wingko Babat is one of the typical food icons of Semarang city that is rounded flat, white on the top but brown colored on the bottom. The color of chocolate in wingko occurs because the process of making Winhko Babat is by baking. Wingko Babat is sweet with five flavors namely coconut, banana, chocolate, jackfruit, and durian with a chewy texture
History Of Wingko Babat
Wingko Babat is one of the most famous eating places in Semarang. Wingko Babat first appeared in the city of Babat. Starting from the family of The Ek Tjong aka D. Mulyono who fled to Semarang city from Babat city in 1944 due to war problem.

While in Semarang City, The Ek Tjong got a job at the NIS railway company (Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatscappij) and her wife or Loe lan Hwa remembered how to make wingko that her dad had taught her,So She started to make and sell wingko not far from the train station where her husband worked.
Because of its taste ,wingko became popular in Semarang . To keep the memory of Babat,the place where loe lan hwa grew up ,She started to call the snack she made wingko babat which mean fractional tile, kereweng. She used paper packaging with a picture of a train which was chosen by hr husband .At first ,He used the words Cap Spoor on the packaging. But,follow the language development then replaced to Cap Kereta Api .
Sold near the station ,wingko babat became one of the best-liked souvenirs for people traveling from Semarang to the cities.This popularity motivated many people to make same kind of snack.Many of them also used the same kind of packaging and similar logo,which was confusing to the customers.Loe Lan Hwa added her husband D. Mulyono with the additional name of his father Loe Soe Siang on the packaging.
How to make Wingko Babat

first :Grated young coconut mixed with sugar, stirred until evenly distributed, then added glutinous rice flour and enough water to stir until evenly and thick
second : To wingko tripe original taste of coconut, just printed round or flat
When wanting another flavor, the extra ingredients are put into the dough and stirred until mixed.
third:Ready for roasting process with low heat, ranging from 80 degree Celsius
fourth :Once uniform and golden brown, wingko reversed for roasting the opposite side
fifth :Once cooked, remove and ready to eat.
